FAQ

Do we have to be an Edmonton band?

No! While our office is in Edmonton, we are working hard to expand and offer services in more areas.

I’m touring through and need an Edmonton or Calgary show, can you do that?

Yes, we can definitely book and promote shows in Edmonton or Calgary for you on your tour. Specifics and logistics will be worked out on a case by case basis, email us for more information.

Is there a fee?

There is no fee to sign with Yeg Music and receive show opportunities. Becoming a Yeg Music member gets you our Yeg Card which gives discounts on services, and promotions. The card/membership itself is free, but each affiliate charges for their services.

Do I have to be signed with Yeg Music to be booked for shows or access Yeg Music’s services?

Definitely not! We are flexible to allow you to make the best choices for your career, and so if that means you just want to do a couple shows to try us out, that’s okay! However, our Yeg Card is a membership exclusive.

I work with other organizations in the city, can I still work with Yeg Music?

In most cases yes, it depends what agreement you have signed. Come in for a meeting and we will see what we can do!

What’s on the Yeg Card?

Arguably the most important piece of the Yeg Card is the show access. Yeg Music Members have free access to each one of our shows. This allows you to come to events, experience new artists, network, and make new friends! It also includes photographers, videographers, recording studios, web designers, merchandisers and more who are reputable and put out amazing work.

I heard that you have to sign a contract. That sounds scary!

The contract was made to help protect you as an artist and is very common in the industry. We go over it piece by piece with you so there is no confusion (and of course, you have the right to take it to outside counsel for a second opinion). Our contract is non-exclusive (meaning you can still work with other agencies/book your own shows), so don’t worry that it will lock you down from other opportunities. That’s the opposite of what we’re trying to accomplish!

I really hate PAY TO PLAY and wanted to know if that is something your company operates on?

We also hate pay to play! We run our shows so that we collect the money, pay any rentals or fees are paid, and then each artist is paid a percentage of the money that’s left (net profit). Percentages range anywhere from 16-40% of the net revenue depending on what is negotiated and agreed upon. How much each artist is paid varies by percentage and by show revenue.

I heard from my buddy John, who heard from his buddy Rick, who’s mom heard from her friend Arlene, that you guys….

Rumours, good or bad, spread about everyone and everything. The music scene is no exception. Best to check it out for yourself.

I’m not 18 yet! Can I still apply?

Of course! There’s no age limit to be involved with Yeg Music.

Do you only pay artists for the people who come to see them?

No, artists are paid a percentage of the net profit (all the money the show made minus expenses). There’s a number of reasons it’s important for local artists to know their draw! The first example that comes to mind is when smaller touring bands come through, they rely on the draws of the local openers to pick up the majority of the crowd and create a great show for everyone. Keeping track allows us to have definite numbers to take into consideration.

Are you guys associated with Landmark?

NO.
